Programmversionen:

0.5 27.12.02

First official release. Implemented up to now: Download, unzipping and updating the current version. Sweep for NT/2K/XP will immediately use the new IDEs.

0.6 28.12.02

Sweep Update is now able to do unattended updates with a switch as it gets called from the commandline or from within a batch. The command "SAV_UPDATE AUTOUPDATE" will immediately get the updates, install them and terminate the programm without any interaction. All statusoutput is written to the logfile. I have included a batchfile AUTOUPD.BAT which calls the program with this parameter. You can include commands for automatic dial-in if you want to use it with the scheduler.

0.6.1 28.12.02 Bugfix: During automatic updates, some messageboxes would still pop up in case of an error. Fixed.
0.7 29.12.02 English localisation.
0.7.2 31.12.02 From now on, the installation package includes MSINET.OCX as it is missing on some machines. Sweep Update has been tested successfully with Windows ME.
0.7.3 03.01.03 Dutch translation by B.F. Boverhuis.
0.7.5 07.01.03 Improved errorhandling in case of connection problems. Sweep Update would sometimes abort with a runtime error, now it writes the error to the protocol and does not stop processing with an alert box.
0.7.6 13.01.03 Improved servicehandling for W2K/XP: On fast machines, Sweep Update will be 0.2 s faster, on slower machines, restarting the service is more reliable.
0.7.8 17.01.03 More improvements in the servicehandling: 0.7.6 would sometimes announce a problem on very fast machines, simply because the service started much faster than anticipated. Fixed.
0.8 05.03.03 Sweep Update will now recommend a full update if a new webdownload of SAV is available, but continue to update older engines as long as Sophos provides matching IDEs. GUI-improvement: The programlog is now dynamically adjusted to the size of the programwindow.
0.8.6 10.06.03 The notification-function has been updated with the exact releasedates up to december 2003. Otherwise, there were no featurerequests, it seems that most users are satisfied with the current state of affairs :-)
0.9.0 05.07.03 Only Windows NT/2000/XP: When Intercheck gets restarted, the file Interchk.chk which contains a hash of recently scanned files will be deleted to make sure that Intercheck will recognise every file as previously unchecked.
1.0 05.10.03 Minor bugfix: the updatereminder would not work properly if the installed version has some special characters after the releasenumber, like e.g. 3.74x - the updatefunctionality was not affected by this problem.
1.0.3 24.10.03 Sweep Update could crash with a runtime-error 9 if the download timed out due to weird networkproblems. It will now report the error in the applicationlog and (on NT, 2000 and XP) the machine's eventlog instead of crashing.
1.0.6 31.01.04 When the new zipfile with signatures is smaller than the old one, Sweep Update will write a corrupt file. I worked on the assumption that the xxx_ide.zip file will never be smaller than the last time and did not delete the old one prior to saving the new version. This has been fixed.
1.0.18 07.04.04 During the updateaction, the button will be disabled, preventing the user from accidentally pressing it again while the update is in progress. The releasedates have been updated, so that Sweep Update knows about upcoming releases of the engine until 10/04.
1.0.21 Fixed a possible crash when the window was resized to a very small size. The releasedates up to March 2005 were incorporated. The strategy has been changed: Sweep Update will now warn on the day after the release of a new version.
1.0.25 On XP/2000, the service would sometimes not restart after the download of the IDEs. Intercheck Monitor would show "inactive". Probably fixed: After shutting the service down, Sweep Update will now wait 0,3s before starting the service.
1.0.30 12.01.04 OX XP/2000: Sweep Update adds two entries to the application log of the machine. If the log was full and no more entries could be written, the program would crash. This should be fixed - however, it is advisable to change the logging options of the system, since the log should be writable at any time.

To-do:

- maybe: make updates for Windows 9x/ME immediately active. I'm not sure if this will be implemented.

- updating of CIDs. This will be a commercial extension. If you are interested in this capability, please contact me by mail for pricing and availability. The basic functionality has been implemented, however the function should be finetuned to the customer's demands.
